Well, after today, I know why vacations are for kids. This weekend has been a work-out in Mommy. Friday, I started with work, hospital rounds, office, charts, etc. Then home to cook meringue ghost cookies, a double batch of chili, 3 # of angus burgers and prep all the fixens. (God Bless, my Mom – she went and got decorations and helped me and Brian set up.) Then, a hayride on the farm after cooking out for 15 GirlScouts and their families. Then, (bright idea) we let 15 or so kids roast marshmallows at the same time. (Think blazing marshmallows on a stick time 20)
By the time everyone left, hubby and I still had cattle and horses to feed. We fell into bed around midnight – it was time to get up (not really but our three year old crashed with Brian and I in my mother-in-law’s bed and he kicks) Brian ended up with a crick and my back is still not right. We left the farm in time to get home 45 minutes before Ella’s last booster ball game, and given my day the day before – I still had three kids to pack for to go on our mini-break with Aunt Amy and Uncle Jay. After the game we drove to the mountains, played putt putt, ate ice cream, and had dinner before joining Amy and Jason at the cabin.
Will and Brie were up at 6 AM. So was Jason, he spoiled us all by fixen breakfast. Then 4 kids to get ready, 2 Mommy’s, and 2 Daddy’s an then off to church at the Great Smokey Mountain Church of Christ where the preacher knows me really well (Al Behel) – well enough to announce that my family and I were there to the entire assembly. Then off to lunch at Jose Carino’s (my first foray into gluten free eating at a restaurant – could have been better.
Next off to Cades Cove for touring and picture time with family. It ROCKS to have a professional photographer in the family. Check out her website at http://www.DodsonImaging.com. We took pictures and hiked and wore our selves out. Dinner was another awesome meal at the Park Grill in Gatlinburg. HINT – if you are ever in Gatlinburg eat at The Park Grill (prices are a bit steep) but the prime rib was awesome and the brownie rocks.
So we drove home with 4 grumpy worn out kids who are now tearing up the bedroom that they have all claimed. I am tired but wanted to get this all in…
