Well, I made it. I drove to St.. Louis, MO, with my daughters for their spring break. Brian was supposed to get to come with us, but then we got delayed in digging the basement, so off we went by ourselves. Seven and a half hours with two talkative girls fighting over what movie to watch was interesting to say the least.
Today, we got to toured Monsanto Corporation biotech facilities. It was awesome. I know that as a company, Monsanto has taken a beating in cyberspace, but I saw a bright and engaging group of people working for a great set of sustainable goals. I feel fortunate to have seen that today. But, boy, have PCR work and genetic sequencing come a long way. Many thanks to Janice (aka JPlovescotton) for setting this up for me. My girls thought the greenhouses were the bomb and the slime they got to make made their day.
After, the morning tours, we spent the afternoon touring the gateway arch. We even went all the way to top. It’s been a great day in mommy land.
I got to see my girls interact with science, goof off and laugh, and experience new heights. The best thing is tomorrow we will do more together. I think we are headed to the Zoo.
